Who We Are

We are a 501 (c) 3 not for profit Sheltie Rescue Corporation, licensed in Kansas and Missouri. We primarily serve the Greater Kansas City area by rescuing and searching for great "fur-ever" homes for the Shelties in our care. We began rescuing and finding great homes for Shelties in 2001 as part of an all-breed rescue organization and in 2009 Kansas City Sheltie Rescue was organized as a breed specific rescue by a small group of dedicated volunteers.

Memories Together...Cherished For ever

The Kansas City Sheltie Rescue was organized in 2009 by a small group of dedicated volunteers under the leadership of a great woman, our President, Barbra Johnson. With her passing November of 2015, we lost our dear friend and mentor. Barbra was a woman who was passionate to make a difference with a determination to rescue any Sheltie in need that crossed her path. Her passion helped mold our group into a family of volunteers that shared her same passion. She empowered our group to work together as a team, to have a voice and to build a camaraderie like no other group of volunteers. As we work to continue her legacy, Barbra will always be in our hearts and remembered by all of those she touched; humans and shelties alike. Our Memories together will be cherished forever!  We miss you, Barbra!
