JJ, a wonderful 8 year old sable has been in rescue for several months. He came to rescue from a breeder with some socialization and is still learning how to interact with humans.  He gets along well with other dogs and does not have any issues with similar sized dogs (he is somewhat intimidated by other larger dogs in the home).  At 23 pounds, he is a perfect lap dog! JJ is potty-trained for the most part and eats very well!  He does not need to be crated and he has become quite spoiled by his foster parents. He loves to sit on the couch and snuggle!  We are working on getting him to come when called. Fortunately, he is treat motivated and with patience he can be trained. Because he is a sheltie, he has a tendency to bark frequently! He would thrive in a family with small dogs and/or adults that are home during the day. All his vaccinations are up to date, he has been neutered and microchipped. This boy got a badly needed dental upon entering rescue.  JJ is a flight risk so he can only be placed in the Kansas City area. He would make a nice companion in a quiet household. JJ is good with dogs, Likes to be vocal (until he knows you) somewhat timid, leashed trained but does need work.
