How Our Adoptions Work
Our Adoptions begin with the completion and submission of an Adoption Application. Completion of an application does not commit you to an adoption, but does start the process. Be sure to fill in the application completely to avoid processing delays. We do process applications in the order in which they are received, but we reserve the right to select the family that is best suited for each particular dog's disposition and needs. We will check your references, contact your vets and phone or email you for an appointment to check your fence. We do require a secure fenced yard and do not accept electric fences.
You may meet our Shelties at an adoption event or by appointment. Most of our Foster Parents work, so appointments will be made at their convenience. If you have any questions please email us or give us a call at (913) 384-0366.
We have no paid employees and only minimal required expenses, so nearly all our funds go directly to the care of our rescue Shelties. Adoption fees range from $150 to $500 depending on the age and socialness of the dog. Our younger dogs help defray the cost and expenses of our older dog's, since older dog's veterinary expenses always exceed their adoption fee.
For all our shelties, adoption fees cover the following:
- Overall physical exam, on dogs over 8 years old this includes complete blood chemistry with a T4
- Vaccines including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella and flu shot
- Heartworm tested and prevention started
- Flea treatment
- Dental Care (if needed)
- Any other veterinary care needed including surgery
