Hi, my name is Summer, and I just turned three in June! I weigh about 22 pounds and I am considered a Mahogany colored Sheltie. I arrived at the K. C. Sheltie Rescue May 15^th 2025 coming in from a group of 32 Shelties.

I am people shy and take a while to warm up to you. I love other dogs and want to play with them and I am learning how to interact with people by watching these other dogs. I am learning a lot of new things and I am encouraged and rewarded with small treats… I like this very much! I would do well with some training classes which will also help me form a bond with my new family and teach me to walk on leash.

I love chasing squirrels and rabbits out of the yard, playing with two other Shelties in the house and running up and down the fence with the neighbor dogs which are very friendly. I am learning what “toys” are though my favorite thing is tearing apart cardboard tubes. I ride well in the car with or without a kennel and either way I am safely tethered so I don’t bolt for the door. I am also kennel trained and love having my own space where I sleep, eat or hang out knowing I will not be disturbed… my safe place!
